Cow in a Dream

Cows have provided humans with milk, cheese, meat, and leather for thousands of years. Cows were venerated in ancient Egypt. Sacred cows were kept at the temple of the Greek goddess Hera at Argos. In India, cows are considered sacred as they provide nourishment. In Buddhism, there's a close relationship between the cow and people's gradual progress towards enlightenment. In the Bible, Joseph recounts many of his dreams. He also interpreted many of Pharaoh's dreams, including one about seven fat cows and seven lean cows. Joseph interpreted these as seven years of plenty, followed by seven years of famine. The pharaoh acted on this interpretation and was able to build up food stores to ensure everyone was fed during the seven years of famine (Genesis 41:17-38). In the West, cows symbolize motherhood, because they provide milk and food. Milking cows were valuable assets in the past. Cows are considered placid, passive animals. For this reason, to dream of one is a sign that you need to become more active and take control of your life. If a man dreams of a cow, it's a sign that he's making contact with the feminine side of his nature.
