Quail in a Dream
At one time, quails were believed to be extremely amorous, and courtesans were sometimes referred to as "quails." William Shakespeare referred to this in Troilus and Cressida (act 5, scene 1): "Here's Agamemnon, an honest fellow enough, and one that loves quails." Quail fights, like cockfights, were popular in rural China. Consequently, the quail symbolizes bravery and courage. To dream of a quail shows that you will have the necessary courage to achieve your goals, and should aim higher than you are now. To dream of nine quails means that your descendants will lead happy lives in peace and harmony.
